Let's recap

Jordan and I started Timo back in August 2018 after a conversation about the state of time tracking tools. He had been struggling with filling in his timesheets as a contractor of a well known design agency. The time tracker was of the wrong fidelity, focusing on projects and groups of work rather than individuals todos. He had his todo list in one app, and time tracking in another. Often out of sync, he was missing important todos or even time working.

Enter Timo. An all-in-one todo list and time tracker.

One week later, we launched on Product Hunt and found a good reception with thousands of people testing it. But we failed to capitalise on this, as I signed an exclusivity agreement to start another, now defunct, company.

The obvious happened. The user base dwindled massively. Yet to our surprise, more than a year later, we still had users on what was a spectacularly primitive product. We still had 20-40 users returning each week to use v1.

It was time to give it another shot. We ran a survey with our users and got some good feedback. Combined with our intuition and an awful lot of dogfooding, we built Timo into its version 2, and what is available today.

Version 2 and beyond

The new Timo maintains the simplicity of v1, while introducing a bunch of new features:

  • Reduce context switching by putting your todo list and time tracking in one place.
  • Fill in your invoices or timesheets with ease, with day, week or month reporting.
  • Focus on the task at hand with project level filtering, and a day by day view.
  • Plan ahead by seeing all your tasks for the week ahead.
  • Take your tasks anywhere with cloud based syncing.
  • Work from anywhere with full offline support.
